Alliander has begun a three-year pilot project in the Dutch town of Lochem. The project started in December when 12 houses were the first to be heated using hydrogen transported over the existing natural gas grid. The period of time has been chosen to ensure, that the project will gain sufficient experience during cold winters. The pilot project will look into whether hydrogen might be a good alternative to natural gas for heating homes.
