On 8 November, Ready4H2 Director Barbara Jinks, attended the Pipeline Technology Conference (PTC) Advisory Committee meeting in Karlsruhe, hosted at the Siemens Process Automation World centre. The PTC is an international conference and exhibition that brings together thought leaders and companies from all sectors of the pipeline industry.

The role of gas distribution in joining the dots between hydrogen supply and demand is becoming increasingly important. This is recognised by the PTC Committee; at the next PTC in Berlin in April 2025, gas distribution will be one of the key topics discussed, and Barbara will lead an Operator Roundtable on “repurposing pipelines for hydrogen”.

Dennis Fandrich, Chairman of the PTC and member of the EITEP Institute’s management board confirmed the importance of talking about gas distribution grids: "From the very beginning, the PTC has embraced a comprehensive approach, addressing the full spectrum of pipeline-related topics from high-pressure cross-country pipeline systems to low and medium pressure distribution networks. By fostering a global exchange of expertise, we aim to connect transmission and distribution system operators from diverse regions who are eager to benefit from the wealth of knowledge and innovative practices shared by operators in Europe and around the world".
