Blending hydrogen with natural gas is a way of maintaining the energy content of the gas mix, whilst reducing its GHG footprint. It is also considered essential for a gradual replacement of natural gas with climate-friendly gases to facilitate a ramp-up of hydrogen trade. The workshop will focus on the commercial aspects of hydrogen blending and on the role of DSOs in enabling this process.

Held 2024, December 4th
Ready4H2 held its 5th workshop focusing on natural gas and hydrogen blending and deblending solutions, with a particular interest on latest technologies. As the technical management of blending is relatively well understood and is already being applied in numerous pilot projects by R4H2 members, the workshop covered the less understood technical aspects of “de-blending” and hydrogen purification for specific end-users.
Held 2024, October 14th
Ready4H2 held its 4th workshop to review and analyse the results of the Ready4H2 DSO Transformation Roadmap Survey, issued to its 70+ members. These results are of paramount importance as they allow members to see their progress along the Roadmap and highlight the key areas where more support is needed.
Held 2024, October 2nd
Ready4H2 held its third workshop focusing on the safety issues associated with transporting hydrogen through the distribution grid. The workshop enabled the 66 participants to better understand the key technical, commercial and personnel issues, and stay up to date on the latest regulations, standards and technology.
Held 2024, September 10th
On 10 September, Ready4H2 held its second workshop focusing on the recent updates to the 2009 Gas Package (the Hydrogen and Decarbonised Gas Market Package), specifically the Gas Directive and Gas Regulation. Updates were shared with Ready4H2 Members, awareness of the impacts to distribution system operators (DSO) was raised, and ways to influence the regulator to minimise impacts was discussed.
Held 2024, June 26th
On 26 June, Ready4H2 held its first workshop in the 2024 series, showcasing projects that are underway or have completed the conversion of a grid section from natural gas to hydrogen, both for blended quantities and 100% hydrogen. The aim was to share lessons learned from such projects and provide recommendations for members embarking on similar projects.
