Pipelines, hydrogen and sausages

Ready4H2 at the Oldenburger Pipeline Forum

Last week the 38th Oldenburger Pipeline Forum (IRO) event took place. This annual event covers underground pipeline construction issues over two days, including a large exhibition and demonstration area, over 120 speakers in a conference from industry, policy and academia, and side events such as the Policy Cafe discussion hosted by DVGW.

Ready4H2 was well represented at the event by its director, Barbara Jinks, Steering Committee chair Gerald Linke and several members and supporters speaking on issues related to hydrogen in the distribution grids. Energie Schwaben shared its progress in converting its whole distribution grid to be able to deliver hydrogen as well as methane.

The issues that the Ready4H2 project researchers and advocates for were prominent in the conference, namely the progress of EU gas DSOs getting ready to deliver hydrogen to support net-zero ambitions, and regulatory support and financial certainty for distribution grid operators in the future.

A highlight of the social side of the event was the traditional Öölberger Grünkohlabend which featured mountains of Grünkohl and kms of sausages!
