Gas Distributors for Sustainability (GD4S, a Ready4H2 partner) hosted a conference in Brussels this week in partnership with Floene and the Portuguese Farmer's Confederation to discuss how cooperation between the energy and farming sectors can accelerate the energy transition. Policymakers, energy distributors, agricultural representatives and industry experts attended the conference and also had the chance to visit the Biométhane du Bois d'Arnelle (BBA) production facility located in Les Bons Villers.
Ready4H2 supports the essential role that biomethane will play in decarbonising energy, and works towards strengthening cooperation between renewable gas initiatives through its seven partnerships, of which GD4S is one.
Aloma G. Reus, assistant to the Ready4H2 Director, attended the conference and site visit and noted the importance of biomethane as an opportunity for farmers to secure tangible benefits whilst contributing to the energy transition. Examples such as the Bois d'Arnelle biomethane production facility and the Lisków biogas plant, presented by Marshal Piotr Całbecki, highlighted successful cases where biomethane development has thrived through collaboration between the agricultural, research and energy sectors.
